When We Are Closed - advice to patients

NHS 111 is a new service that's being introduced to make it easier for you to access local NHS healthcare services. You can call 111 when you need medical help fast but it's not a 999 emergency. NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time If you need medical help outside of GP surgery hours call 111. This is an NHS service for medical problems not needing urgent attention. This service:

  • Is available 24/7 every day
  • Triages calls to assess what healthcare is needed
  • Gives advice for self-care or information on where to seek medical attention
  • Transfers to emergency services where appropriate

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
